Kelsey Ryan-Simkins is an Educator in the Nutrition Education Program in Douglas and Sarpy Counties. Her primary focus is supporting policies, systems, and environments that promote healthy eating and active lifestyles. Kelsey’s goal is to develop education programs and community partnerships aimed at ensuring all Nebraskans have the resources and ability to find, afford, choose, and prepare nutritious foods. Kelsey is part of the Nebraska Regional Food Systems Initiative, which supports and promotes locally grown food.

Kelsey has a PhD from The Ohio State University in rural and environmental sociology, where her research focused on assessing urban agriculture as a tool to increase food access in communities with low-income.
