My research focuses on biotic and abiotic factors that impact corn or soybean production in Nebraska. The first part my program utilizes a state of the art simulated hail machine with the goal of improving damage estimates on row crops. The second part focuses on impact of cover crop management practices on pest and beneficial insects to provide growers with options that mitigate risk and maximize returns. The last part of my program focuses on two emerging issues, corn ear formation issues and soybean gall midge.
